Chuck the Chicken became a mascot and communications tool for the Active After School web resource. To promote the site to an audience of after school practitioners not typically accessing online tools in program creation, we purchased and distributed rubber chickens – a piece of equipment hugely popular in After School Settings.
The chickens were a hook to bring staff to the website to find safe, fun, engaging games for kids using our collection.
“Chuck” – a play on the ever popular chuck the chicken throwing game - became the center of our outreach and made appearances in our booths, social media, conference presentations and in other promotion and was a great hit drawing lots of attention to the portal.
I have worked on a number of longer communications pieces including annual reports and cases for support for both work and volunteer causes.

I have many years experience in the development of promotional materials and in planning outreach events including the Pioneers for Change film gala and a virtual conference that brought groups from several cities in Ontario together to engage in professional development by logging in to a conference based in Toronto and working with facilitators in their own regions.
